Aston Villa have been forced to pull out of a deal to sign Sheffield Wednesday’s Sean Clare – and now Premeir League Wolves are reportedly interested.

As if it couldn’t get any worse for Aston Villa, a player that seemed certain to be wearing claret and blue in the near future could end up posing in the gold of Wolves instead.
Villa looked to have pulled off a massive coup with TEAMtalk reporting that they were set to beat a whole host of Premier League sides to Sheffield Wednesday’s out-of-contract midfielder Sean Clare. The former Gillingham loanee made just five Championship appearances in 2017/18 due to injury but his talent was there for all to see, particularly when he scored against Aston Villa to cap a fine individual performance back in March.

But after defeat in the play-off final preceded the dire financial crisis that has Villa suddenly being forced to sell many of their key players, the Sheffield Star reported that the Midland giants suddenly had to pull out of a move for Clare.

The reigning Championship winners are understood to be one of the clubs very interested in signing arguably the most in-demand midfielder outside of the Premier League and, thanks to the exciting project taking shape at Molineux, they are surely one of Clare’s most tempting options.
So Aston Villa’s summer could be about to get even tougher.
