Leo Bonatini is playing Championship football for Nottingham Forest after failing to impress in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Leo Bonatini has admitted that he would love to stay at Nottingham Forest when his loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers comes to an end, in quotes reported by the Birmingham Mail.

The Brazilian international scored 12 times as Wolves won the Championship title last season but he found game time hard to come by in the Premier League, often sitting on the bench while Raul Jimenez strutted his stuff in attack.

As a result, Bonatini joined Nottingham Forest on loan on the final day of the January transfer window. And while the 24-year-old is yet to score in his four league games for Forest, he seems very happy with life at the City Ground.

“Of course (I would like to stay),” said Bonatini.

“It is a really good team. Even if we don’t achieve the play-offs I would like to stay.

“But of course I know that it’s not just about me. I have a contract with Wolves. I think it depends how I finish the season here. It’s something we’ll just have to wait until the summer.”

It remains to be seen how Nottingham Forest feel about the former Sao Paulo striker. The Birmingham Mail claim that they have an option to sign Bonatini in the summer should he impress in the East Midlands between now and May.

But he will need to find the back of the net before the end of the season. Bonatini hasn’t scored a league goal since Wolves’ 1-0 win against Birmingham City back in December 2017.

Wolves signed Bonatini permanently last summer for £5 million, as reported by the Express and Star.
