Connor Ronan is on loan at League One Walsall from Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers and shining at the Bescott Stadium.

Time will tell whether Connor Ronan has a future at Wolverhampton Wanderers. For now, however, the young Irishman is enjoying his time in League One with Walsall.
After struggling to star at Portsmouth in the second half of last season, Ronan returned for a second chance in the third tier of English football in August and he has already made a much bigger impact in Walsall colours.
The diminutive 20-year-old was a major factor in the Saddlers’ only win in their last five games, a recent 3-2 home victory against Wycombe Wanderers. Ronan was named Man of the Match after an influential display in midfield.
Speaking to the Express and Star, Ronan obviously believes this standout display represents a major step forward in his Walsall career.
“It was an honour (to be named man of the match),” Ronan said. “It was my first league start at home; I’d played a few away games and come on at home – but I’d not started one.
“It was good to experience the home fans getting behind us and getting a win. Being named man of the match just topped it off.
“Due to the team doing well, it’s been hard to break in. I’ve started the last few games and hopefully I can push on now, emulate that performance and stay in the team.”

The Republic of Ireland U21 international made his mark on Wolves’ first-team during the reign of Paul Lambert and has so far managed 16 senior appearances for the club.
But, with Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho forming an excellent midfield partnership, and with Morgan Gibbs-White shining off the bench against Tottenham, Ronan now finds himself a long way down the pecking order.
