Championship outfit Aston Villa have reportedly shown an interest in Maritimo star Vukovic.

Aston Villa are the latest British-based club linked with Croatian midfielder Josip Vukovic with Calciomercato reporting that the Maritimo ace is a target for Dean Smith’s side.
Vukovic has stood out in the Primeira Liga this season, featuring in 19 games for the Madeira outfit while catching the eye of a number of clubs on the continent.
talkSPORT broke the news last month that Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in the 26-year-old, while Scottish Premiership powerhouses Rangers are hoping to add yet another midfielder to their already well-stocked ranks.
But it seems that Aston Villa are interested, too, at least according to Calciomercato.
The Italian publication claims that Villa are keen on a player who moved to Portugal from Olimpia Donetsk last summer, while adding that Rangers are still in the frame along with Serie A Champions League chasers Lazio.

Furthermore, the tough-tackling enforcer is understood to be valued at around £1 million – a bargain fee in today’s market – despite the fact that he has another two years to run on his contract with Maritimo.
Aston Villa’s interest comes shortly after the Sun (24 March, page 59) claimed they are planning to get rid of veteran pair Mile Jedinak and Glenn Whelan.
