Sporting Lisbon’s Rui Patricio appeared to be on his way to Serie A with Napoli – but Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers aren’t giving up.

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ hopes of signing Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio appeared to be over.
Gianluca di Marzio claimed last month that Wolves were hot on the trail of the Portuguese number one. But it was understood that Napoli were Patricio’s more likely destination with the shot-stopper, who has a £30 million release clause in his contract, more interested in a move to the Serie A runners up.

But in the latest reports provided by The Mail, it seems that Wolves have not given up just yet.
Napoli were expected to sign Patricio as a replacement for the departing Pepe Reina but the report suggests that Wolves will attempt to hijack the move as Nuno Espirito Santo aims to add some star quality to his squad ahead of their Premier League return.
The Mail goes as far as to say that Napoli will now face ‘intense competition’ from the 2018 Championship winners.

Wolves have been linked with a whole host of talented goalkeepers in recent weeks despite the fact that John Ruddy won the Championship Golden Glove after keeping 24 clean sheets en route to the title last season.
And while Patricio is one of the more expensive goalkeepers on the market, Wolves certainly have the funds to make this deal happen. They’re not funded by Chinese billionaires for nothing.
