Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with a January move for the Porto ace.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo will be determined to bolster his ranks at Molineux this month, in an effort to help his side finish inside the top seven of the Premier League table come the end of the season.
One of the Portuguese’s target is Porto midfield ace Hector Herrera, according to a report from Italian publication Tutto Mercato Web, but whilst the Mexican is a real talent, it might be difficult for him to force his way into Wolves’ starting XI.
Nuno currently has Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho to call upon in the middle of the park, as well as Romain Saiss and Leander Dendoncker.
Herrera is an accomplished passer of the football, and is wonderfully cool and composed when in possession, but his attributes are very much similar to both Neves’s and Moutinho’s.
It could be argued that Wolves should really be strengthening in other areas of the pitch.
The Black Country outfit are in need of more firepower in their attacking department, and the signing of another top class centre-back would surely be a wise move from Nuno.
It is unclear how much money Wolves actually have to spend this month, and whilst Herrera would be a sound addition, Nuno must make sure that he doesn’t neglect other areas of his squad, if he does in fact bring the Mexico international to Molineux.
