Everton are reportedly considering keeping Eliaquim Mangala but Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers are also allegedly keen.

Portuguese football agent Jorge Mendes poses on arrival for the world premiere of the film Ronaldo in central London on November 9, 2015.

Jorge Mendes is seemingly planning to bring yet another of his clients to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

According to the Sun, Wolves are hoping to sign Eliaquim Mangala on a free transfer this summer when his contract at Manchester City expires.

Only four years ago, he became the most expensive defender in English football history when he signed from Porto for £32 million and, with eight France caps to his name, would be the latest big-name addition for the ambitious Championship winners.

And Wolves’ sudden interest means the ball is now very much in Everton’s court.

Mangala swapped Manchester City for Everton on a short-term loan deal in January but could not have endured a worst start to his ill-fated Goodison Park spell.

The 27-year-old endured a nightmare debut as Arsenal thrashed the Toffees 5-1 at the Emirates Stadium, with Mangala at fault for at least two of the Gunners’ goals. And, just halfway through his second game for the club, the defender suffered ligament damage to his knee and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Sun (27 March, page 55), however, reported that Everton could still choose to sign Mangala on a permanent deal when he becomes a free agent this summer, giving him the chance to prove to fans why the club brought him in in the first place.

But Wolves have the connections and the pulling power to lure Mangala to Molineux. Which means that, if Everton want to keep him at Goodison Park, they will have to come to a decision very quickly.
