Lewis Grabban has been linked with a move to Wolves in January after scoring for fun with Sunderland.

The Black Country side are four points clear at the top of the Championship and are reportedly eyeing January transfers that could take them over the line. According to TEAMtalk, Wolves are interested in bringing Lewis Grabban to Molineux on the back of his fine form at struggling Sunderland.
The report claims that parent club Bournemouth have a recall clause in Grabban’s contract, allowing them to cancel his loan spell with the Black Cats midway through the season and sell him on in the New Year.
As it stands, Grabban is the fourth highest goalscorer in the Championship this season, netting 10 times in 13 starts for a side mired in the relegation zone. And the 29-year-old has no shortage of pedigree at this level, having enjoyed the most prolific season of his career with Bournemouth in 2013/14 before helping Norwich City to promotion a year later.
It is not difficult to understand, therefore, why Wolves want Grabban to enhance their attacking options in January. But if he does help Nuno Espirito Santo’s side back to the Promised Land, how much longer would he stick around?
After all, Grabban’s top flight career amounts to 24 games and just one goal. And with Wolves not short of cash, you’d expect that they would spend big next summer anyway, potentially forcing him down the pecking order.
It appears, then, that Grabban would be a signing to get Wolves out of the Championship and little else. In Lehman’s terms, a short-term solution.
