Monaco loanee Ruben Vinagre notched his first goal for Wolves as they thrashed Burton Albion on Saturday in the Championship.
Ruben Vinagre has wasted no time in becoming a real fans’ favourite at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 18-year-old capped another fine performance with a well-taken goal in Saturday’s 4-0 thrashing of Burton Albion, his first for the club in just his sixth appearance.
It has become increasingly clear as the weeks go by why Vinagre is so highly-rated at parent club Monaco, perhaps the leading team in Europe right now when it comes to identifying and developing young talent.
While the likes of Atletico Madrid winger Diogo Jota and former Porto wonderkid Ruben Neves, the Championship’s all-time record signing, have dominated the headlines and become posterboys of the Wolves revolution, Vinagre has also played a huge role in a fantastic start to the season which has earned them the tag of promotion favourites.
A dynamic and energetic presence on the left hand side, the teenager is one of the most exciting players in an already thrilling Wolves side. At just 18, Vinagre has plenty of time to improve too and his potential is nothing short of fearsome.
Burton simply couldn’t live with his pace and rapid raid down the left flank at the Pirelli Stadium at the weekend.
Therefore, Wolves should pull out all the stops to make Vinagre their first permanent signing in the January transfer window.
Monaco may take some convincing but, with the backing of Chinese conglomerate Fosun International, Wolves are not short of disposable income right now. And the Portuguese Under-19 star could prove as inspired an arrival as Neves or Jota.
