Liverpool right-back Clyne has been linked with Premier League strugglers Cardiff City – but is he perfect for Wolves?

Wolverhampton Wanderers are already planning to target one Liverpool outcast in the January transfer window with The Mirror stating that they want to bring seldom-seen striker Divock Origi to Molineux.
But if Wolves want a new right-wing back to provide competition for Matt Doherty, and the Birmingham Mail believes they do, Nuno Espirito Santo could do worse than to ask about Nathaniel Clyne too.
Like Origi, Clyne hasn’t made a single Premier League appearance all season with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez both ahead of him in the pecking order at Anfield.
And Wales Online reports that the former Southampton flyer is open to leaving in the winter with Liverpool also understood to be willing to let him go. Cardiff City want to bring Clyne to South Wales on loan but, if he is really available, Wolves shouldn’t wait around.

After all, the 27-year-old looks like a neat fit for Wolves’ 3-4-3 system with his swashbuckling, attack-minded approach marking him out as sensible competition for Republic of Ireland international Doherty.
And though Clyne has struggled with injuries in recent times, making just three Premier League appearances since the start of 2017/18, a loan move would reduce any potential risk.
