Wolves should keep Ivan Cavaleiro as report provides Adama Traore update

Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly keen on signing Adama Traore from Middlesbrough.

English football has been forced to wait to see the best of Adama Traore, but the former Barcelona starlet appeared to take a big step towards fulfilling his massive potential last season.

The jet-heeled winger was in fantastic form as Middlesbrough reached the play-off semi-finals and, as a result, has reportedly attracted the attention of a number of Premier League sides. One of those, according to the Sun, is Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It is understood that they, along with Huddersfield Town, are leading the chase for Traore, who has a rather affordable £18 million release clause in his contract.

Should Wolves agree to pay that fee, Traore’s future will be out of Middlesbrough’s hands and he would be free to choose his own destiny. But that does not mean that a move is guaranteed.

As reported by the Birmingham Mail, Boro are confident that Traore is happy at the Riverside, suggesting that it is far from certain that he will seek to jump ship this summer.

And it remains to be seen what this means for the future of Ivan Cavaleiro. The Portuguese starlet is a target for Fulham, who had a £12 million bid rejected last month, and the Birmingham Mail adds that doubts over his future means Nuno could be in the market for a new winger.

So far Wolves have refused to accept any offers for Cavaleiro and this should not change as long as Traore appears to be content with life in the North East.
