After Newcastle United landed Martin Dubravka, Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly raiding Sparta Prague for Florin Nita.

For the second time in the space of two weeks, a Sparta Prague goalkeeper could be set to sign for a Premier League club.

Martin Dubravka earned a four-year deal at Newcastle United on 1 June; a reward for an excellent loan spell at St. James’ Park in the second half of last season.

And, strangely enough, the man who replaced him at Sparta Prague could also be on his way to England. According to the Mail (live blog, 9.44am) Wolves are keen to sign the Romanian international Florin Nita.

Nita, who is understood to be valued at around £4.5 million and allegedly has interest from other Premier League sides, replaced Dubravka at the Czech giants when he arrived from Steaua Bucharest in February and made 14 appearances for Sparta, keeping six clean sheets.

Links with the relatively unknown Nita will be a little underwhelming, particularly with the Mail claiming that he is an alternative to the renowned Portuguese number one Rui Patricio, who has been heavily linked with a move to Molineux.

But Dubravka’s success at Newcastle should give Wolves some hope. Few had heard of the 29-year-old either when he arrived on Tyneside in January but he was an absolute revelation between the sticks, making critics and fans alike wonder why he had not been snapped up sooner.

If Nita makes the same impression, Wolves would be landing one of the bargains of the summer. He is not a big name but that does not mean he wouldn’t be a great signing.
