Premier League duo Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers have been tipped to sign Victor Lindelof from Manchester United in the transfer window.
It seemed only a matter of time before Wolverhampton Wanderers were linked with Victor Lindelof.
The Swedish centre-back struggled to make a positive impression after joining Manchester United from Benfica for £31 million last summer and, amid suggestions that other Premier League clubs were keen to take him off Jose Mourinho’s hands, Molineux quickly became an obvious destination.
Lindelof, after all, is another on Jorge Mendes’ extensive list of clients. And, sure enough, TEAMtalk reported in May that Wolves were confident of landing the 23-year-old and would be willing to sign him permanently or just take him on loan for the season.
Wolves are seemingly not alone in their interest though. The Mirror states that new Everton manager Marco Silva has made Lindelof a prime target with a £35 million move to Goodison Park on the cards. But should Wolves fans rejoice?
Lindelof is obviously a talented defender and that is why he was coveted by countless clubs across Europe before Manchester United made him their most expensive ever defender. But there was little sign of that ability in a dreadful first season at Old Trafford, in which he found himself behind even Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in the pecking order.
Lindelof looked shaky almost every time he played and started just 13 Premier League matches; his reputation taking a battering after a horror show in the 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town in the autumn.
Could Lindelof’s error-prone ways be a threat to Wolves’ fantastic defensive record?
Willy Boly, Conor Coady and Ryan Bennett were fantastic last season so maybe Wolves should leave Everton to fight for Lindelof alone.
