Roderick Miranda stood out for all the wrong reasons in a poor second half at Loftus Road, in which Wolves lost top spot in the Championship.

And while Wolves could go home with their head held high after just being beaten on penalties by Manchester City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, there’s far less pride that can be taken out of Saturday’s 2-1 loss at QPR.
The performance was one of Wolves’ poorest since Nuno Espirito Santo took over as manager at the start of the season. And centre-back Roderick Miranda perhaps epitomised a disappointing afternoon in which the Midland giants lost top spot to Sheffield United.
6ft 6ins Matt Smith came off the QPR bench to power past Miranda and nod home the winner with nine minutes remaining of the match. The Portuguese defender, who himself stands at 6ft 4ins, never once got to grips with the targetman’s hulking frame in a poor second half which once again cast doubts on whether he is cut out for the pace and physicality of England’s second tier.
Miranda has been a regular in Wolves’ starting XI this season, featuring in all 14 Championship games since his summer arrival from Rio Ave, but another concerning display has a number of fans wondering whether Kortney Hause, so impressive across 120 goalless minutes against Man City, should be given a chance instead.
