Rangers, Celtic and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all after a new left-back, and Dani Pinillos’ potential move from Nottingham Forest could spark activity.

After the abject failure that was Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s development-stunting loan from Manchester United to Wolverhampton Wanderers, it has been clear for some time that a new left-back would be high on manager Paul Lambert’s list of priorities.

And, according to the Sun on Sunday, Spanish Nottingham Forest defender Dani Pinillos could be a potential answer to the club’s problems.

The 24-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and, with Forest manager Mark Warburton willing to usher a number of players through the exit, it seems that the Championship strugglers are hardly tripping over themselves to offer him a new deal.

However, Pinillos’ potential move from the City Ground to Molineux would surely bring an end to Wolves’ reported interest in Morton’s scoring sensation Thomas O’Ware.

The Daily Mail reported last month that the versatile O’Ware, who has hit double figures this season as Morton fight for promotion to the Scottish Premiership, was on the radar of Wolves, as well as Celtic and Rangers.

However, with Pinillos seemingly the Midlands club’s top priority, this could open the door for the Old Firm rivals to make a move for the former Scotland youth international.

Celtic could be in need of reinforcements at left-back come the summer with long-serving, six-time title winner Emilio Izaguirre seemingly set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

And O’Ware, a young, homegrown prospect renowned for his attacking intent, would certainly fit the bill for manager Brendan Rodgers.

Rangers, meanwhile, appear to be embarking on a domestic recruitment drive under Pedro Caixinha, with O’Ware one of a number of Scottish talents linked with a move to Ibrox.

Furthermore, the goalscoring defender started his career in the youth ranks of Rangers so a return may appeal to both parties.
