Wolverhampton Wanderers have already seen a bid for Rafael Camacho rejected by Liverpool. And now their task has got even harder.
With Jurgen Klopp’s side taking the Premier League title battle down to the final day and battering Barcelona to reach the Champions League final for the second year in a row, it is a mystery why anyone would want to walk out of Anfield right now.
But that is exactly what Camacho could do this summer with the Portuguese wonder kid stalling on extending a contract that is due to expire in 2020, according to Sky Sports.
Unsurprisingly, a club who have taken to hoarding some of Portugal’s brightest young talents have taken a firm interest. A Bola reported a fortnight ago that Wolves have set their sights on Camacho with their initial £8.5 million bid being batted away by Liverpool.
Now, Wolves are facing an even bigger challenge if reports are to be believed.
According to Record, none other than Real Madrid have suddenly joined the race to sign the 18-year-old this summer. Zinedine Zidane’s side are embarking upon a huge summer overhaul with the Spanish giants looking to recruit some of the world’s top young talents.
Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz have already joined and Camacho could be next.
Now, Wolves have history when it comes to beating Real Madrid in a transfer battle, winning the race for Rafa Mir back in January 2018 (Super Deporte). Repeating the trick, however, could be easier said than done.
