The Burnley striker could cost a huge fee if he is nabbed by one of the Premier League’s big boys this summer; 12 years after leaving Wolves

While Sams Vokes and Winnall were at least given the opportunity to don Wolves’ famous gold on a professional basis before being deemed insufficient for the club’s first-team, Burnley’s in-demand front man Andre Gray had his dreams dashed long before he could even consider making his debut.
The Wolverhampton-born striker was released from the club’s academy aged just 13 and it is a testament to his changed character that he finds himself at the top level of club football rather than falling into the endless potential vices that have claimed a number of football’s lost young souls, as reported by The Guardian.
The Daily Mail claimed in the summer that Tottenham were sniffing around the born-again goal-machine after he spearheaded Burnley’s return to the Premier League, only to be put off by their £30 million asking price.
Such a monstrous figure was probably intended to scare Spurs off rather than encourage any actual bids but, after an impressive debut Premier League campaign, almost half of the top flight linked with the former Brentford forward. The Daily Star claim that he could now be worth around £12million.
Wolves, meanwhile, continue to struggle in the lower reaches of the Championship. If only they could call on a goal-scorer like Gray or, in fact, his Burnley strike partner Vokes.
