West Ham United are reportedly close to signing ex-Arsenal ace Jack Wilshere while Steven N’Zonzi could allegedly return to the Premier League.

The centre of midfield was arguably something of a weak link for West Ham United last season.

Mark Noble has been on the decline for some time while Chiekhou Kouyate, for whatever reason, simply is not the same forceful powerhouse who dominated the centre of the park a few years ago. It did not help either that Pedro Obiang missed the final few months of 2017/18 through injury either.

But the signs for next season are looking very positive indeed.

Sky Sports claimed on Sunday that the Hammers look set to finally bring the Jack Wilshere saga to an end. The 26-year-old England international, who is a boyhood Hammers fanatic, is understood to be on the verge of moving to the London Stadium on a free after his contract at Arsenal expired.

Jack Wilshere of Arsenal is closed down by Tiemoue Bakayoko of Chelsea during the Carabao Cup Semi-Final Second Leg at Emirates Stadium on January 24, 2018 in London, England.

And, should West Ham get their way, Wilshere could be joined by the former Blackburn and Stoke enforcer Steven N’Zonzi. Le 10 Sport claims that the rangy France international, who has a £35 million release clause in his Sevilla contract, is also a West Ham target.

Just imagine if West Ham swap Noble and Kouyate from Wilshere and N’Zonzi. They are two players of genuine Premier League quality who would represent a massive upgrade for the Hammers.

Wilshere and N’Zonzi can both control a game from the centre of the park, adding excellent distribution and far greater mobility in the engine room.
