Danny Batth has risen through the ranks to skipper Wolverhampton Wanderers but how much longer does he have at the Championship leaders?

Wolves are still sitting at the top of the Championship table despite Saturday’s defeat to local rivals Aston Villa and Danny Batth’s dream of leading the club into the Premier League is very much alive.
“Taking Wolves to the Premier League is my goal,” the centre-back, who rose through Wolves academy to captain the side at senior level, told the Express and Star in an interview back in December 2016.
But even with the local lad just touching distance from the promised land, there may be a good chance that Batth has no part to play when Wolves get there.

The 27-year-old has started just 12 of a possible 36 Championship games this season, with Conor Coady, Willy Boly, Roderick Miranda and Ryan Bennett ahead of him in the pecking order.
And it is fair to say he did not make the most of a rare opportunity on Saturday evening. Wolves fans ripped into their long-serving skipper after that 4-1 hammering at Aston Villa’s hands, some even predicting that he will never play for the club again.

That may be a possibility. Per the Express and Star, Wolves will shake up their squad when promotion is secured, using their impressive contact book and their huge transfer kitty to bring in players of Premier League quality.
Batth, if his display at Villa Park is anything to go by, would struggle to make the step up.
Wolves have been ruthless in trimming down their squad, getting rid of the likes of Jack Price and Lee Evans, and Batth may be next in line for the cull.
