MLS star Miguel Almiron could head to the Premier League in January with Newcastle United and West Ham both linked.

So much for the MLS being a ‘retirement league’ for has-beens and forgotten men. Miguel Almiron’s remarkable form this calendar year shows that there is some exciting young talent to be found in the United States too.
The Paraguay international is the most in-demand player in North America right now and justifiably so, given that he tallied 13 goals and 13 assists for Atlanta United in 2018.
Almiron has been linked with a move to the Premier League frequently in the last few months and, as it stands, it seems that Newcastle United have crept to the front of the queue despite the £25 million price-tag on the midfielder’s head.
According to The Mirror (live blog, 10.13am), head of recruitment Steve Nickson is due to fly across the Atlantic to discuss a deal for the Atlanta talisman.

So if West Ham United are serious about bringing Almiron to the London Stadium, now is the time to step up their interest. TYC Sports in Argentina suggested that the 24-year-old’s move to West Ham looked likely in October but the trail has grown cold in recent weeks.
But with Manuel Pellegrini’s side seemingly targeting a creative and energetic number 10, perhaps to ease the absence of Manuel Lanzini, the all-action Almiron ticks plenty of boxes.
And given that Newcastle haven’t broken their transfer record since Michael Owen arrived for £16 million in 2005, West Ham seemingly have the funds to blow the north east giants out of the water. But The Hammers cannot afford to leave it too late to get involved.
