Borja Iglesias’ form in the Segunda for Real Zaragoza lead to reported interest from Celtic and Swansea City.
If Borja Iglesias wants his big break this summer after years milling around the Spanish lower leagues, producing the second most prolific season in his professional career should help.
Iglesias played for the Celta Vigo B team between 2013 and 2017 before joining Real Zaragoza last summer, stepping up from the third to the second tier of Spanish football.
And the one time Valencia youth teamer adapted like a duck to water. He scored a very impressive 19 goals in 37 league starts for Zaragoza as they finished in fifth place, narrowly missing out on the play-offs.
Iglesias also netted 34 times for Celta in the Segunda B division in 2016/17, meaning he has scored 51 goals in the last two domestic seasons combined.
So the ball is now in Celtic and Swansea’s court.
Iglesias has shown that he knows where the goal is but any deal would be a substantial risk given that he has never played consistently at a level higher than the Spanish second tier.
Though, as Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers has proven over the years, he thrives on helping players realise their potential.
