Steven Naismith shone for Norwich City’s Under-23s on Sunday, but a return to Ibrox with Scottish Premiership giants Rangers is still just a pipe dream.

Steven Naismith has not made a first-team appearance for Norwich City since August. But the 31-year-old has offered the most timely reminder of his qualities with a starring performance for the Canaries’ under-23 side on Sunday afternoon.
Naismith took centre-stage as Norwich’s second string edged out Newcastle United in a 4-3 thriller, scoring twice and setting up another in a display that encapsulated everything good about the Scottish schemer.
And the diminutive number ten will have been hoping that scouts from Ibrox had kept a close eye on his match-winning display.

Because, as reported by the Scottish Sun, Naismith is dreaming of an emotional return to Rangers this month, five-and-a-half years after he left for Everton on a free following the Gers’ liquidation and demotion to the fourth tier.
It is said that Naismith is so keen to make amends that he is willing to play for the Glasgow giants for free between now and the end of the season.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Rangers will be tempted to renew their interest. So far, there have been no suggestions that a return to Ibrox is genuinely on the cards, with Rangers instead looking to reinforce their attack with the likes of Jason Cummings and Jordan Jones.
