Hull City striker Abel Hernandez was reportedly interested in moving to Championship rivals Leeds United.
We have got to the point now where Leeds United really need to be making headway in the chase for Abel Hernandez.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the departing Hull City striker is Leeds’ top target this summer. And owner Andrea Radrizzani appears to have beaten off competition from a whole host of rival clubs, including Wolves, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, by agreeing to sell 10 per cent of his shares in order to fund a deal that would make Hernandez by far Leeds’ highest earning player.
It was understood that Hernandez was tempted by a move to Elland Road. The fans are getting desperate, then, for this deal to be announced.
Hernandez has been prolific in his two seasons at Championship level and looks like the man capable of filling the void left by Chris Wood’s departure to Burnley last year.
So reports in Calciomercato that Galatasaray have made the first offer should spark Leeds into life. Gala, who won the Turkish title last season and will be competing in the Champions League, have seen their offer rejected as it is deemed to low, but they are expected to make a new approach in the coming days with negotiations still open.
So Leeds simply cannot afford to rest on their laurels.
The next few days could be crucial and if Leeds let this opportunity pass them by it could come back to haunt them.
