Rangers manager Graeme Murty knows Glenn Middleton from his time at Championship outfit Norwich City – when will he make his Scottish Premiership bow?

Before Graeme Murty was appointed as Rangers’ first-team manager upon the sacking of Pedro Caixinha back in October, he had spent more than a year in charge of the development squad.
So all of the young talents in Rangers’ current roster will be confident that they’ll get first-team chances under a man who obviously has a great deal of belief and commitment to young players. And there is one Rangers ace in particular who may be praying that Murty is kept on as manager beyond the end of this season, with his contract due to expire in the summer as things stand.
Glenn Middleton swapped Norwich City for Ibrox in the January transfer window in pursuit of first-team football but that has not been forthcoming so far despite some very impressive performances for the reserves in the last two months.

And the 18-year-old winger has only enhanced his reputation over the international break, netting twice for Scotland’s U19s in an otherwise disappointing 5-4 defeat to Norway.
But as long as Murty remains at the helm, Middleton should be positive. After all, if there’s one man who should know how talented the teenager is, it’s Rangers’ 43-year-old boss. Before moving to Ibrox, Murty spent two years working with Norwich’s youngsters at Carrow Road and was fully aware of Middleton’s talents.
“Glenn is an exciting player. I’ve known him for four years,” Murty told the Scottish Sun.
“I coached him as a schoolboy. I was really surprised when I heard he was going to be able to leave (Norwich).

“We have to make sure the players see a pathway. Glenn now has an opportunity to showcase his talents at a big club. I’ll try to develop his game and develop him as a person.”
If Murty stays at Rangers, Middleton shouldn’t be too far away from the first-team.
