Lyon’s Ligue 1 midfielder Ndombele could force Everton to break their transfer record.

Farhad Moshiri owner of Everton looks on prior to the Premier League match between Everton and Stoke City at Goodison Park on August 12, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

11 of the 12 biggest signings in Everton’s history have taken place since Farhad Moshiri took over as the club’s majority shareholder in 2016. And after paying £45 million for Gylfi Sigurdsson a year ago, The Toffees broke their transfer record again in the summer when Richarlison arrived from Watford for an eye-watering £50 million.

But, driven by Moshiri’s relentless ambition, could the Merseyside giants exceed their transfer record once again with the January transfer record just a few weeks away?

Tanguy Ndombele has become a gossip column regular throughout 2018 and the 21-year-old Lyon midfielder has now played his way onto Everton’s wish-list.

The Liverpool Echo reports that chief scout Martyn Glover has watched him in action with head coach Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands in agreement that Everton need a powerful central midfielder like the France international.

Mundo Deportivo has now backed up claims of Everton’s interest and adds that it could cost about £62 million to convince Lyon to sell their prized asset.

Now, Moshiri told talkSPORT (9 November, 11am) earlier in November that The Toffees weren’t planning any major changes in January but Ndombele is the sort of talent that doesn’t come around too often.
