Premier League duo Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers were reportedly interested in signing Portugal international Miguel Veloso this summer.

Miguel Veloso is still a free agent but Everton and Wolves must make a decision quickly if they want to sign the Portuguese international without spending a penny.
According to TEAMtalk in late-August, the 32-year-old midfielder was being considered by Everton and Wolves, having left Genoa in the summer upon the expiry of his contract.
Now, Veloso never became the world class enforcer many expected him to evolve into during his formative years at Sporting Lisbon but the veteran still earned 56 caps during 11 years with the Portuguese national team while impressing in two spell at Genoa either side of a stellar two years at Dynamo Kiev.
Veloso would offer cover in front of Everton’s defence, making him perhaps a more reliable alternative to the erratic Morgan Schneiderlin.

And you can see why Wolves were reportedly keen too, given that a whole host of Portugal internationals are already plying their trade at Molineux. Veloso could provide back-up to Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho while also filling into Nuno Espirito Santo’s back three if required.
According to Il Secolo XIX, however, Veloso is now training at former club Genoa and could sign a contract with the Serie A club this week. So Everton and Wolves are in a race against time to decide whether Veloso is worth bringing to England.
