Australian ‘keeper Adam Federici joined Nottingham Forest from Bournemouth in August, only for an injury to ruin the move.
The impressive performances of Jordan Smith between the sticks at Nottingham Forest do not appear to have eased Mark Warburton’s desire for a new number one in the January transfer window.
The Nottingham Post have reported that Forest are plotting to make a move for Liverpool’s forgotten man Adam Bogdan while they are understood to still be interested in Danish shot-stopper Frederik Ronnow.
Forest saw three bids turned down for Ronnow by Brondby in August.
But they wouldn’t need to bother if Adam Federici had not suffered an ill-timed injury just a few days after the summer transfer window slammed shut.
The 32-year-old had agreed to move to the City Ground on loan from Bournemouth until January – only for a knee injury suffered on international duty with Australia to scupper the move.
But with Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe stating that Federici is not far away from returning to first-team training, per the Nottingham Post, could the former Reading ‘keeper emerge as a viable option for Forest again in the New Year?
Federici is unlikely to find opportunities easy to come by with The Cherries after all. Asmir Begovic is firmly established as the club’s first choice while, behind him, Artur Boruc has plenty of Premier League experience.
Federici, however, has made just eight league appearances in two years and could relish the prospect of first-team football with the World Cup on the horizon.
