Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers and Celtic reportedly want to sign Championship ace Nick Powell from Paul Cook’s Wigan Athletic this summer.

Wigan Athletic have offered Nick Powell a new and improved contract to stop the reported Rangers and Celtic target leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season, according to Wigan Today.
As it stands, the former Manchester United youngster will make his final appearance for the Latics in Sunday’s Championship clash with Millwall.
Powell, who joined Paul Cook’s side in 2016, has just a few weeks remaining on his contract and the likes of Celtic and Rangers are hoping to snap him up on a free during the summer transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.
But Wigan are not ready to let their 25-year-old talisman go without a fight.
Wigan Today claims that the second tier side have offered Powell a new deal with improved terms in an attempt to convince him to stay at the DW Stadium.
The 2013 FA Cup winners are aware, however, that their highest earner could be offered a bigger wage elsewhere.

Burnley, Brighton, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County and a Norwich City side who confirmed their promotion to the Premier League on Saturday are also interested, TEAMtalk adds.
Interestingly, Celtic’s interim coach Neil Lennon has been watching Powell for a number of years. The Mail reported in 2014 that he wanted to sign the one-time Crewe wonder-kid during his first spell in charge of The Hoops.
