Leeds United moved back to the top of the Championship table with a 2-1 win away at Wigan Athletic on Sunday.

Leeds United had a rather substantial hurdle to overcome as they travelled to face Wigan Athletic on Sunday afternoon.
The Latics had not lost a single home game since returning to the Championship this season, which makes Leeds’ 2-1 win at the DW Stadium even more impressive.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side fell behind to a sixth-minute Reece James free-kick, but an almost immediate equaliser from the fantastic Pablo Hernandez and a poacher’s finish by Kemar Roofe, who capitalised on a horror mistake from Wigan goalkeeper Christian Walton, secured Leeds’ place at the top of the Championship.
Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel, Latics manager Paul Cook admitted he was disappointed to taste defeat on home soil for the first time but paid tribute to another impressive Leeds performance.
“Leeds always carried a threat. They were excellent at times with the pace and the movement of the forward players,” Cook admitted.

“I was disappointed to lose our home record today but we’ve lost it to a very good side. If we got a draw we’d have been happy.”
Leeds boasted 67 per cent of possession away at Wigan. They also doubled the hosts’ shots on target and deserved a win that looks narrower on paper than it was in reality.
As a result, Leeds are now level on points at the top of the table but ahead of in-form Norwich City as things stand.
