Glasgow Rangers let Josh Windass leave Ibrox and move to Championship newcomers Wigan Athletic on transfer deadline day.

It is fair to say Josh Windass divided Rangers fans in his two seasons at Ibrox. And it seems that the 24-year-old is already having a similar impact at Wigan Athletic.
Windass moved to Lancashire last week in a £2.5 million deal, bringing an end to a Rangers career that was either a decent success or a major disappointment depending on what side of the fence you sit.
And it seems that the Wigan supporters are in two schools of thought after the midfielder’s debut for the Latics in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa.

Windass came off the bench for Nick Powell with about 20 minutes remaining and was certainly lively, making some good runs off the ball. But it is impossible to overlook the glorious chance he missed with minutes to go, shortly before Birkir Bjarnason snatched a winner for Aston Villa at the other end.
Latching on to a terrific pass from fellow debutant Lee Evans, Windass guided a free header narrowly over the bar. He arrived with a reputation as a goal-scoring midfielder, netting 18 for Rangers last season, and this was a chance he really should have taken.

So Wigan supporters might already be beginning to understand why Windass divided opinion so much at Rangers.
