It is unlikely that Martyn Waghorn alone could have prevented Rangers from humiliation in Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final thrashing against Celtic.

Rangers were never at the races, missing fight and energy throughout – two attributes that Waghorn could never have been accused of lacking during his spell on the blue half of Glasgow.
The hard-working forward was never a universal fan favourite despite an excellent goal-scoring record, tallying 44 in 78 across two seasons, but Rangers could have done with him in attack as Celtic put them to the sword at Parkhead.
And, when pledging his allegiance to Rangers before the game, there was no shortage of Gers fans pleading for the 28-year-old to return just one year after he left for Ipswich Town to the tune of around £1 million, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.
The man who did start up front for Rangers against Celtic, Alfredo Morelos, once again endured an afternoon to forget against the green and whites. Firing straight at Craig Gordon from six yards, the Colombian’s unenviable record of missed Old Firm sitters goes on.
Would Waghorn have put that chance away on Sunday and fired Rangers back in the game? We will never know.
