Scottish Premiership giants Rangers reportedly want to bring Mexer to Glasgow from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes.

Rangers will face a challenge in their attempts to sign Rennes defender Mexer this summer with coach Julien Stephan making it clear this week that he wants to keep the Mozambique international in French football, as reported by Ouest France.
Edson Andre Sitoe, otherwise known as Mexer, has been a key player for Rennes over the last five years, having moved to Roazhon Park from Portuguese outfit Nacional in 2014.
He has started 27 Ligue 1 games this season, meaning he is clearly one of the first names on Stephan’s team-sheet.
So no wonder the Rennes coach is keen to keep hold of Mexer at all costs with L’Equipe claiming that he has caught Rangers’ eye.
“Yes, these two players have been very important this season,” Stephan said when asked whether he wanted to keep both Mexer and Mehdi Zeffane, who was linked with Norwich City by Le10 Sport.

“Mex has had a great season and Mehdi, every time he was called, he was also very good. The president also knows what I think of these two players. “
Mexer’s future might be out of his hands, however, with the experienced centre-back out of contract this summer.
Rangers are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements with both Gareth McAuley and Joe Worrall both expected to leave Ibrox over the next few weeks.
