Rangers’ somewhat ambitious hopes of landing Frank De Boer as their heir to the Ibrox throne appear to remain alive as the Dutchman’s agent has told Tuttomercatoweb that there is ‘zero possibility’ that he could take over at Leicester City.
The footballing world was united in uproar on Thursday when the stunning news broke that Claudio Ranieri had been sacked at the King Power Stadium – less than a year after guiding the club to one of the greatest achievements in modern sport.
Rangers themselves parted company with their manager earlier this month, although Mark Warburton’s departure resulted in far less outrage from the club’s fanbase.
And former Ajax boss De Boer, who enjoyed a short-stint at Ibrox in 2004, appears to be the runaway favourite among Rangers supporters. The 46-year-old’s agent, Guido Albers, told the Evening Times that the club’s lack of funds may not stand in the way of a potential return to Glasgow.
And Albers’ claims that De Boer will reject the advances of Leicester mean De Boer will more than likely remain out of work until the summer where he is expected to weigh up his options.
“There is zero possibility that Frank could go to Leicester,” the agent told Tuttomercatoweb.
“I too heard these rumours, but that’s all they are – rumours. I can affirm without doubt that Frank will not become the Leicester City manager. This will 100 per cent not happen.
