Juan Foyth has not featured in the Premier League since joining Tottenham Hotspur, who are keen to bring Ligue 1 ace Issa Diop to North London.
Juan Foyth has impressed pretty much every time he has been given a chance at Tottenham Hotspur. Unfortunately for the Argentine centre-back, those opportunities have been few and far between.
Spurs beat off competition from Roma and PSG and appeared to have pulled off a real coup when they brought Foyth to North London from Estudiantes for a fee of £10 million back in August, as reported by ESPN.
So far, however, the 20-year-old has featured just six times for the first-team, and not a single one of those appearances has come in the Premier League.
Of course, manager Mauricio Pochettino is more than likely trying to avoid throwing a young, new signing in at the deep end in order to manage his adaptation to life in England.
But Spurs have seen this before with the likes of Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Clinton Njie marginalised and quickly becoming forgotten men.
And with Mundo Deportivo reporting that Tottenham are battling the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona to sign the Toulouse captain Issa Diop, this does not bode well for Foyth.
The 21-year-old Diop is the latest defensive talent to emerge from Ligue 1 and has established himself as one of the top young centre-backs in world football during a fine season in an otherwise struggling side.
Spurs have been watching Diop for some time and it appears that they are ready to make their move and pay big for another young centre-back a year after smashing their transfer record to sign Davinson Sanchez.
But if Diop heads to North London, Foyth must be wondering what chance he genuinely has of carving out a first-team berth.
