Ezri Konsa is the latest Brenford star who looks set to move to the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly interested.
It seemed only a matter of time before Ezri Konsa became the latest budding starlet to graduate the Griffin Park finishing school with flying colours.
Like Andre Grey, Chris Mepham and co before him, the England U21 international looks set to swap Brentford for a chance in the Premier League after making huge strides at the Championship outfit.
According to The Times, Wolves are set to sign Konsa for £12 million, meaning The Bees are in line to make a £10 million profit on a player they snatched from Charlton Athletic just a year ago.
That is certainly a lot of money for a player who was starring in the third tier as recently as 2017/18 but Wolves are a club who invest in the future.
And, in Konsa, they could be about to snap up one of England’s best young defenders.
“It is a really exciting signing for us because of his age, potential and attitude. He has played a lot of games at League One level and his potential is unlimited,” former Brentford boss Dean Smith, who is now in charge of Wolves’ local rivals Aston Villa, told The Bees’ official website in 2018.
Konsa’s former Charlton boss Karl Robinson, meanwhile, didn’t hold back when telling London News Online that a then-teenage Konsa was by far the best young centre-half in English football with his ability to carry the ball out from the back with precision and confidence unparalleled in the lower leagues.
He looks perfect, then, for a Wolves side who’s approach is underpinned by a ball-playing back three.
