George Marsh has a big future in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur if his first Leyton Orient display is anything to go by.
While Jack Clarke was once again conspicuous by his absence for Leeds United, another Tottenham Hotspur loanee had a weekend to remember on his Football League debut.
George Marsh made his first appearance for Leyton Orient in their impressive 2-2 draw away at promotion chasing Exeter City and it didn’t take him long to win over his new supporters.
90 minutes after stepping onto the pitch for the first time in Orient colours, Marsh had a Man of the Match on his mantelpiece and almost 500 travelling fans singing his name from the terraces.
It’s fair to say Marsh made one hell of an impact on the South Coast.
A tireless box-to-box enforcer who travelled with Spurs to the Champions League final in May before being rewarded with a new two-year contract, those in North London obviously have big hopes for the Kent-born youngster. And a short spell across the city at Brisbane Road could be the making of Marsh.
As Harry Kane will tell you, dropping down the divisions for a few months can give a hungry young talent the exposure and the experience he needs to make that step up from the sterilised world of academy football.
And the early signs suggest that it hasn’t taken long for Marsh to adapt to life in the professional game.
