West Ham United have been linked with making a move for Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

West Ham United have been linked with Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater again in the Daily Mirror, but there has been question marks over whether he is even needed at the London Stadium anymore.

West Ham were heavily linked with Drinkwater earlier on this summer, but the rumours went quiet more recently.

The Hammers have already brought in Jack Wilshere this summer, and their midfield currently appears stacked.

With Cheikhou Kouyate and Pedro Obiang still around, West Ham have a lot of options in defensive midfield, and Wilshere and Noble are likely to fulfil the more all action roles.

It is, therefore, hard to see exactly where the £35 million man (Daily Mirror) would fit in for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

The Chelsea midfielder may be a quality asset, but West Ham’s squad would start to look bloated with him involved.

And the Hammers may be better off letting Drinkwater go elsewhere, to allow Pellegrini to spend the rest of his transfer budget on improving other areas of his squad.
