West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly hoping to sign Brahim Diaz from Premier League champions Manchester City

Brahim Diaz and West Ham United feel like a match made in heaven.

New Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini is a huge admirer of the teenage wonderkid, having watched his development at Manchester City closely after bringing him to England from Malaga as a precocious 14-year-old.

Did we mention that West Ham’s new director of football Mario Husillos also knows Diaz well from the youngster’s time in the youth system at La Rosaleda?

Either way, it is no surprise that West Ham have emerged as candidates to sign Diaz on loan for next season with Pellegrini eyeing him up as a potential replacement for the stricken Manuel Lanzini, according to The Sun.

The now 18-year-old Diaz is one of the most exciting attacking prospects in European football – but the most eye-catching praise might have come from his fellow Manchester City reserve Edward Francis.

“He is a type of player who can win matches for us,” Francis told Goal.

“In the Premier League we can compare him with Eden Hazard, but he is a bit like Messi in the way he dribbles. It’s good to have a player like him in the team. He is also a bit like David Silva.”

Hazard, Silva and Messi – three of the most gifted creative talents of their generation. Clearly, there are big expectations of this little, fresh-faced teen.

No wonder Pellegrini wants to sign him.
