AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie is being linked with a big-money move to West Ham United.
AC Milan seem a long way away from re-establishing themselves at the top table of Italian football, let alone on the European stage. So as long as this fallen giant continues to stumble around in the undergrowth, plucky clubs will try and lure their star players away from San Siro.
That could be the situation Milan have found themselves in with Franck Kessie. The 21-year-old Ivory Coast powerhouse has been a constant bright spark since arriving at the Rossoneri from Atalanta in 2017 but his future is currently under the microscope.
Calciomercato reports that Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen to bring Kessie to Molineux – weeks after Sky Italia claimed that the ambitious Premier League newcomers had offered Milan a club-record £36 million.
Now, Tuttomercatoweb claims that West Ham United are also in the race. The Hammers are missing a powerful and forceful central midfielder despite spending over £100 million on new players in the summer – and Kessie could be the man they need.
TMW reports that West Ham are ready to pay £31 million, though Milan believe Kessie is worth a lot more. Chinese Super League outfit Beijing Gouan are also keen but the midfielder would rather remain in Europe.
Paris Saint-Germain are interested too but Financial Fair Play restrictions mean they are towards the back of the queue right now.
So West Ham, as well as Wolves, are right at the forefront of a saga that is only likely to rumble on for months to come.
