West Ham United manager David Moyes was in the stands as Michy Batshuayi scored for Chelsea in their nervy third round win against Norwich City.

Not for the first time this season, the performance of Michy Batshuayi was picked apart by one of the greatest strikers in the Premier League era from the comfort of the Match of the Day studio.
Ian Wright was heavily critical of the Chelsea striker’s ineffective display in October’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. This time, it was Alan Shearer’s turn; the Newcastle United legend highlighting Batshuayi’s lack of movement in the final third and inability to effect the game outside the box.
Of course, the Belgian international scored moments after the interval, slamming into the roof of the net to give Chelsea the lead in an FA Cup third round replay against Norwich City; a game Antonio Conte’s nine men would eventually win on penalties.

But, goal aside, Batshuayi surely did not offer enough to convince West Ham United boss David Moyes, sat in the crowd with notepad in hand, that he is the answer to the club’s striker problems.
The £33 million former Marseille frontman has been mentioned as a potential makeweight in a deal that would see Andy Carroll complete a stunning move to Chelsea this month.

But there is a reason why Batshuayi has started just three Premier League games in a year-and-a-half at Stamford Bridge.
And, on last night’s evidence, West Ham fans have not given the potential signing of Batshuayi their seal of approval.
