Reports have claimed Ben Foster will leave West Bromwich Albion if they are relegated from the Premier League – should West Ham consider him?
West Ham United’s goalkeeping problems are showing little signs of abating.
Joe Hart has been one of the most disappointing signings in this Premier League season with a loan move from Manchester City failing to revive a career that appears to be in rapid decline.
And Hart’s replacement between the sticks, the long-serving Spaniard Adrian, has also come under criticism for his performances of late. The former Real Betis shot-stopper has let in eight goals during his last two Premier League games and hardly covered himself in glory during the 4-1 battering by Swansea City on Sunday.
So with Ben Foster likely to leave West Brom at the end of the season unless the Baggies can pull off an escape akin to Tom Cruise in an over-produced summer blockbuster, the former England intentional may be in The Hammers’ sights.
According to The Sun, the 34-year-old Foster is attracting interest from both Southampton and Stoke City. But if West Ham are in for a goalkeeper with Hart unlikely to make his loan permanent, the one-time Manchester United shot-stopper would be an affordable and experienced addition.
Though with West Ham fans already frustrated by the club’s alleged lack of ambition in the transfer market, see the cheap moves for Patrice Evra, Pablo Zabaleta, Hart and co, signing a veteran goalkeeper from a relegated side wouldn’t be a universally popular decision.
