Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United reportedly want Manchester City’s Premier League champion Otamendi but so do Juventus and PSG.

What chance do West Ham United or Wolverhampton Wanderers really have of signing Nicolas Otamendi this summer?

The Premier League duo were linked with the Manchester City defender over the weekend by Marca. But they are not alone in targeting the Argentine international, who is open to leaving the Etihad after making just 14 Premier League starts this season.

According to Ole, the champions of Italy and France are also interested. Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain need to reinforce their back lines with the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Thiago Silva the wrong side of 30.

And Otamendi, a player who has plenty of weaknesses but still boasts plenty of top level experience, could be a potentially solid addition.

West Ham and Wolves, then, face a huge task if they want to keep the former Valencia and Porto powerhouse in the Premier League. Yet that is not to say they don’t have a chance.

Otamendi’s agent is Jorge Mendes, who was instrumental in eye-catching moves that saw Joao Moutinho, Rui Patricio, Ruben Neves and co move to Molineux in recent years.

And West Ham’s manager is Manuel Pellegrini, the coach who paid £32 million to bring Otamendi to City four years ago (BBC).
