Premier League giants Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal wanted Fenerbahce’s Guctekin last summer – now he could sign for West Brom

West Brom’s new technical consultant Gianluca Terraneo knows the Turkish league well, having served in a similar capacity at Istanbul giants Fenerbahce.
And it seems the Italian is already putting his knowledge to good use as The Baggies prepare their squad for a season in the Championship.
A Spor claimed that Albion had renewed interest in last summer’s £10.6 million one-that-got-away Josef de Souza and it seems that another Super Lig star is now on the club’s radar.

The 19-year-old is a highly-rated defensive midfielder who has been at Fener for almost a decade and made his professional debut as recently as November. In total, the Turkish U19 ace has made six appearances in the Super Lig, though only two of those have come from the start.
Guctekin is obviously a talented player, however, because The Sun reported back in August that Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester City wanted to sign the teenager even before he had made his senior bow.

And Fener president Aziz Yildirim claimed that Pep Guardiola’s City even made a £4.5 million offer – which the club flatly rejected.
Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino are Arsene Wenger are renowned across the world for identifying future superstars – so that should be enough to explain why West Brom want Guctekin.
