Jay Rodriguez has scored 10 Championship goals for West Bromwich Albion but could he return to the Premier League with Burnley?

West Bromwich Albion did brilliantly to hang on to Jay Rodriguez over the summer but the Baggies appear to be set for a nervy couple of weeks with the January transfer window looming on the horizon.

Rodriguez has played a part in West Brom’s ongoing promotion challenge with 10 goals in the Championship this season. The former England international has also silenced any concerns over his fitness by starting all 21 league games since the start of 2018/19.

According to the Birmingham Mail, however, West Brom are under no illusions that Rodriguez still has plenty of admirers and are braced for offers heading into the New Year.

Sky Sports have already claimed that Burnley are keen to bring the 29-year-old back to Turf Moor, having represented the Clarets between 2007 and 2012.

It is understood that Burnley were willing to pay £16 million to sign Rodriguez in the summer but West Brom wanted closer to £18 million for their prized asset.

And, with promotion on the line, you can expect the Baggies to demand a big fee again when the window swings open.

The Birmingham Mail adds that West Brom will look to sign a striker to replace Rodriguez should he depart, which perhaps explains why they have been linked with the prolific PAOK striker Aleksandar Prijovic by TEAMtalk.
