West Bromwich Albion have signed Tosin Adarabioyo from Premier League champions Manchester City despite reported Wolverhampton Wanderers interest.
There were two Midland clubs in the race to sign Manchester City youngster Tosin Adarabioyo on loan, according to The Mail. But the talented defender will move to the one in the Championship rather than the side recently promoted to the Premier League.
The Mail stated that Wolverhampton Wanderers were interested in signing Adarabioyo on a temporary deal from the Premier League champions. But the Manchester-born 20-year-old has now joined West Bromwich Albion instead.
Though it is difficult to argue that Wolves, despite their lofty ambitions and Premier League status, would have been a better fit for Adarabioyo.
The former England U19 ace has not started a single league game in two years under Pep Guardiola and featured in just four matches in all competitions last season. Understandably, the Mail claims that he is seeking regular first-team football to enhance his development.
And he’s more likely to get that at West Brom, who sold Jonny Evans, released Gareth McAuley and look set to lose Craig Dawson, than he would have at Molineux.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side can already call upon Conor Coady, Willy Boly, Ryan Bennett and Danny Batth with the club seemingly keen to bring in one more defender before the transfer window slams shut.
This would have left Adarabioyo in a difficult fight for a place in the starting XI.
