Angel Rangel has been impressive for QPR in the Championship but would West Brom be a better move for Nottingham Forest.
Angel Rangel has made a real impact since joining Queens Park Rangers. And, with his contract due to expire at the end of this season, there appears to be a real chance that Steve McClaren could lose him already.
According to The Mirror (17 November, page 63), Nottingham Forest are interested in signing the 36-year-old, having previously expressed an interest before he moved to Loftus Road in the summer.
But Forest are not the only promotion-chasing Championship outfit seemingly in need of a new right-back heading into the January transfer window.
West Brom spent the entire summer looking to reinforce the right hand side of their defence but failed to sign the likes of James Tavernier (TEAMtalk) and Tom James (BBC), meaning veteran Tyrone Mears ended up making a shock return to English football.
Rangel, however, could be the man The Baggies are looking for, even if the former Swansea City captain is in the autumn of his career.
The Spaniard is blessed with plenty of experience and has the ability to make an impact on and off the pitch. And he’d surely add an element of solidity to a West Brom defence that has looked far too vulnerable throughout the season.
As it stands, there is just one point separating West Brom in fifth and Nottingham Forest in seventh so the January transfer window could be a deciding factor in a typically tight promotion race.
