After a dreadful year-and-a-half at West Bromwich Albion, it is little surprise that Oliver Burke is loving life at Celtic.

The powerful winger became West Brom’s record signing when he arrived at The Hawthorns from RB Leipzig for a club record £15 million in the summer of 2017 (the Guardian). But he never looked like living up to that massive price-tag, starting just two Premier League games last season and playing a grand total of 46 minutes in the Championship.

Burke is showing real signs of progress since joining Celtic on loan, however, scoring twice on his debut in an unfamiliar centre-forward role in a 4-0 thrashing of St Mirren in January.

And the Scotland international has made it clear that he is already eyeing a permanent stay in Glasgow.

“I’m just focusing on day to day. I don’t want to look too far ahead because decisions can be taken out of your hands,” he told the Record. “But I’m really happy here and if I’m enjoying my football then I want to stay.”

It rather sums up just how disappointing he was at The Hawthorns, then, that many West Brom fans would be happy to see Burke go. They obviously feel that the former Nottingham Forest starlet is something of a lost cause and what are the chances of him forcing his way back into a Baggies attack which is the most potent in the Championship?
