Championship duo West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City are reportedly interested in signing Britt Assombalonga from Middlesbrough.
Whoever wins the race to sign Britt Assombalonga this summer would surely be rewarded with a major boost to their hopes of winning promotion to the Premier League next season.
Assombalonga has been linked with a move away from the Riverside ever since a training ground disagreement with manager Tony Pulis, as revealed by HITC recently.
And there has been no shortage of suitors for one of the Championship’s very best strikers. Swansea City are keen, according to Northern Echo, while West Brom are also interested say TEAMtalk.
Boro are understood to want to recoup the £15 million they paid Nottingham Forest to sign the 25-year-old this time last year. And it almost goes without saying that Swansea and West Brom, who could fund a deal thanks to their parachute payments, would be pulling off a deal which could potentially transform their attack.
Swansea were the joint lowest scorers in the Premier League last season so the quick and powerful Assombalonga would fill a void in attack. West Brom, meanwhile, look set to lose Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez, meaning a player who averages almost a one-in-two record in the Championship would be a super replacement.
Fortunately for The Baggies, they might hold an advantage. TEAMtalk adds that Boro could offer Assombalonga as part of a deal to bring Matt Phillips to the Riverside.
And should West Brom land Assombalonga, their hopes of an immediate return to the Premier League will only increase.
