Leigh Griffiths is definitely staying at Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, ending any hopes West Brom or Crystal Palace had of a January move.

West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace were certainly a little ambitious when plotting moves to bring Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths to the Premier League.

According to the Daily Record, the Premier League duo had both sent scouts to watch Celtic’s number nine over the last few months, with the Scotland international potentially seen as the answer to their goal-scoring problems.

Palace have found their feet in the final third since Roy Hodgson’s appointment but are still lacking a reliable centre-forward with Christian Benteke out of sorts.

West Brom, meanwhile, have the Premier League’s third worst attack despite suggestions that Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez are finally finding form.

But a move for Griffiths, who the Baggies had attempted to sign in the summer for around £6 million according to the Daily Record, now looks even more fanciful.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, the former Wolves and Hibs striker is desperate to reach 100 goals in Celtic colours. He is four away as it stands and is more interested in joining the likes of Henrik Larsson and Kenny Dalglish in this exclusive club than a move to England.

“I don’t want to leave here,” he sad. “It’s a massive club and I love playing for this club. I am focusing on trying to hit that 100 goal mark and won’t be going anywhere.”

West Brom and Crystal Palace appear to have turned their attention elsewhere in recent weeks and it seems that was a good decision.
