Everton are reportedly willing to bring Che Adams to the Premier League after his outstanding Championship form for Birmingham City.
Che Adams’ 19 Championship goals for Birmingham City this season have made him one of the Championship’s most coveted players.
According to TEAMtalk, Everton are among a number of top flight clubs who have scouted the 22-year-old recently. And they might be in luck, given that Birmingham are willing to sell next summer for £20 million.
But what would Everton be getting if they succeed in bringing Adams to Goodison Park? According to one-time Toffees youngster Jay McEveley, he is a striker with the potential to be a top class Premier League marksman and a future England international.
“He’ll be getting scouted by Premier League teams so what happens if he gets a big move? He’ll then be on England’s radar,” McEveley, who played with Adams at Sheffield United, told the Daily Record.
“As soon as he started training with us, we could see he had something. He was strong, powerful and his finishing was brilliant. At 18, the strength he had was incredible. He was still growing but he was like a man.
“I compare him to David Brooks, who’s now at Bournemouth but came through at Sheffield United around the same time.”
Brooks is not a bad example to follow. The Welsh winger has been a revelation since he moved to Bournemouth in the summer, establishing himself as a genuine PFA Young Player of the Year candidate while seeing his value skyrocket to £50 million, according to the Mirror.
Everton would be taking a chance paying a big fee for a player who has never featured higher than Championship level. But it worked rather well for Bournemouth.
